Luciano Rauso

Luciano Rauso was born April 28, 1995 in Pittsburgh PA at Mercy Hospital. He was named after Charles “Lucky” Luciano and Luciano Pavarotti. His Father, Louis J. Rauso, is Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. His Mother, Shawnett P. Rauso, is of Calabrian and Bruzzese heritage. He has a younger brother,Vincenzo Rauso, who is 7 years old. He also has 1 dog, a 4-year-old kai-ken named Yoshi. (Yoshi is a Japanese word that translates into Lucky in English).

At a very early age, Luciano displayed many talents. He began ice-skating at 11 months old, just 2 weeks after he learned to walk. By the age of 4 he was an excellent skater and hockey player. By the age of 4 his parents also noticed that he had an incredible ear for music. Luciano was able to learn songs very easily. “He would listen to a song once or twice and he would know it and be able to repeat it with the correct key and deflection of voice,” his Mother remembers. “I would do the same thing with movies! I had a knack at remembering dialogue for the movies I liked. When family members would visit I would put on these elaborate movie scenes for them to watch,” Luciano adds. At the age of 6, his parents took him to see the musical ‘Cats” at the Benedum Hall in Pittsburgh. His Mother remembers, “During the show, Luciano whispered into my ear, ‘Mom, one day I am going to be on the stage.’ I kind of chuckled a bit and told him to follow his dreams. Son of a gun, Luciano was on that very stage a little over a year later!

At the age of 7, Luciano auditioned for the role of Tiny Tim in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera's version of a "Musical Christmas Carol". He booked the role and became the youngest Tiny Tim in Pittsburgh CLO history.  Luciano stunned the audience with his rendition of ‘Away in a Manger’. Luciano states “Carol was an incredible experience for me. I got to work with Edmund Lyndeck from the movie ‘Big Daddy’, the whole cast was great and we were really a second family. My biggest honor was when the CLO asked me to return for a second year!” Despite the rigorous demands of 28 live performances, a full time school workload and a busy hockey schedule he returned for a second year.

“It was a great experience. My family and friends kept saying that I was going to be a superstar some day in Hollywood or New York. My parents would laugh, but I knew this was a real dream of mine,” Luciano continued. Luciano studied the art of acting and singing in Pittsburgh. All of his instructors noticed something special in his abilities. After a show, an agent from Los Angeles approached his family about opportunities on the West coast. The dream was becoming a reality.

CALIFORNIA:

“The trip to L.A. was tough. My Mom, brother and I came out for ‘pilot season’. My Dad stayed in Pittsburgh. He was working and keeping the house. After the 4 month pilot season, we fell in love with the California lifestyle. I tried to learn everything I could about the business. Everyone that I met was an opportunity to learn more about the business,” Luciano remembers. Upon his arrival in Hollywood, Luciano was very busy. His voice was a quickly successful in California. He was regularly appearing on stage, amazing the crowds with his powerful voice and vocal range. Luciano was a Radio Disney Award Winner and appeared on Radio Disney with D.J. Adam. He was also a member of the Children of the World Choir, performing in large venues throughout the West Coast.

THE SAN GENNARO FESTIVAL:

Luciano fondly recalls, “When you talk about breaks in Hollywood, this was mine. I was asked to perform on the children’s stage for the festival. It was a great big honor. I was familiar with the Feast of San Gennaro from growing up in Pittsburgh. I was performing my set when one of the stage directors talked to me about performing on the main stage. I was honored.  I got to perform in front of about 1000 people. They really enjoyed it and I loved it! I got to meet the hilarious Mike Marino, the comedian that was the m.c. for the event; he and I are still great friends. I was interviewed on 97.1 FM after the set and was interviewed on Fox news with Amy Murphy the next morning. I did a few sets on the kids’ stage the next day and repeated the sets on the Jimmy Kimmel Stage. After the show I met Dom Delouise. My family and I became members of the San Gennaro Family. I am proud to perform for this wonderful charity every year.

DISTURBIA:

“I was away at Science Camp when my Mom got the call that I booked Disturbia. When I came home, my family had arranged a big surprise party for me. It was a little cheesy, but I really enjoyed it,” recalls Luciano. In regards to 'Disturbia' Luciano says, “ What an experience! Working with Shia (LeBeauf) was awesome. He was really down to earth and I learned a lot from him. The Director, D.J. Caruso, was very involved in all the scenes. If we were not rolling on the set, I would just watch him and how he interacted with the cast and crew. Again, I can not express how much I learned!” When asked about his red carpet experience, Luciano shyly recalls, “I was waiting for security to grab me. I kept thinking why am I here and why do all these people want my autograph? It was so surreal, I enjoyed it and spent as much time as I could on the carpet talking with the fans and signing autographs.”

CHAIN LINK:

'Chain Link' filmed in the summer of 2007 and is due for release in 2008. This is the first starring role for Luciano in a feature film. He plays the role of Little Man in this film about a dysfunctional family that is trying to mend their family structure. “I had a lot of fun working on this film. We shot in Lake Elsinore, California. The cast and crew stayed in this beautiful house that accommodated all of us. We got to know each other really well prior to shooting. We were pretty confined to the house. There was this huge cattle farm next door and the area stunk so badly, we couldn’t go outside for a long time.” The shooting schedule was tough and the days and nights were long but Luciano recalls, “We would get back to the house, make some dinner and talk about art, acting and Hollywood in general. By the end of the evening we would all have our scripts out and review our next scenes or review previous ones. Dylan Reynolds (Director) was always looking for input from the cast.  Mark Livingston (Father) was a true character. He was always working on his craft and really pushed us to want to make this a great film. I am really looking forward to the premiere of Chain Link.”

A WOMAN CALLED JOB:

Filmed in the late summer of 2007 and due for release in 2008, Luciano stars as Young Lee, his second lead role in a feature film. “Job’ was a great shoot that had some great set locations including Cape Cod. It is an interesting love story that has quite a few twists and turns.” He states “The crew was great.  We had some difficult shoots and long days. Jole, the Assistant Production Manager, made my life a lot easier. I couldn’t have gotten through a lot of my scenes without her.”

DIAMOND MINE STUDIOS:

“I love acting and every aspect of it!  But my passion for singing still burns brightly. My time in the studio is very special to me. Carl McGregor (producer) is very energetic and we feed off of each other. He accepts some of my suggestions regarding song lyrics and music. The studio time is always very productive. If I could have my choice, I would live in a studio and just sleep on the couch,” Luciano proudly states. Lukky’s demo is almost complete and includes 4 originals songs, including his hit single "Pretender". My first song and I am only 15. Pretty cool!”
